Psalm 18:34

He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze.

We spend our days training, living intentionally, rushing from one decision to the next.

Are we being trained?

Are our hands able to bend the bow of bronze?

Activities rush past us in a fury.

In the midst of this do we take the time to rest?

Do we choose joy?

When the days pass and our financial reality overwhelms us, do we use the weapon of rest?

Rest is a Weapon

Our financial situations do not ‘make’ us stressed. Rather, each day we are offered the choice between peace and anxiety, joy and fear, rest and stress.

In the midst of the battlefield, choosing to stand still in the the presence of God is counter-intuitive. Yet it is the most powerful weapon we have to defy the lies, worries and burdens which plague our steps.

Moment by moment we are faced with this simple choice which allows us to engage with our God.

Do we choose rest?

Celebrate!

As a people of rest, celebration allows us to enjoy each moment. Celebrate God, celebrate your journey with Him because this kind of trusting joy cannot exist in the same space as stress and fear.

Nothing in this life is worth worrying about.

Joy acts as a stress inhibitor and finding the moments of joy in the midst of stress is what sets us apart as a people of rest.

Being intentional in our financial stories is important, but learning how to rest enables us to make the intentional choices required. Through resting, we can change the atmosphere of our own financial story as well as influence the atmosphere of others.

Remember in the midst of every storm, God is drawing us into relationship and His perfect love casts out fear.
