Jesus, the Hope of our Finances
At this time of year, Christian Advent celebrations ring throughout the nation’s churches. It is a time to reflect on the hope, the joy, the love and the peace of Christ. On this week’s radio show Dave and Reb, along with Ray Borg of Compass Canada, talk about the hope Jesus brings, not only into our spiritual lives, but our financial journeys as well.
So often, we grow in despair when we know we aren’t paying our bills. But Dave and Reb encourage people to look to the Lord, especially during these times of discouragement. Looking to Him, calling out to Him, and seeking His ways are paths we travel to find hope and financial freedom.
“I love the verses in Proverbs 13,” Dave says. “They promise hope to us from the words of Scripture. The Message Bible tells us that ‘unrelenting disappointment leaves you heartsick, but a sudden good break can turn life around. Ignore the Word and suffer; honor God’s commands and grow rich. The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, so, no more drinking from death-tainted wells!’”
We want to be drinking from the life-giving, hope-filled wells of Christ and His Word. Finding out what His Word says about finances, and applying those words to your life, will build hope. Making a plan, and determining goals in your life, will also help you.
Ray Borg says it is like getting into a vehicle: “You don’t start your journey without knowing where you are heading. As God’s people, we want to know our destination financially, and understand how to get there.”
Join the conversation this week, and be reminded that Christ is the One who brings hope to your finances this Christmas.
