Reconciling the Past
Some of us have had a great year and are happy to talk about 2017. Some of us can’t wait to end this year, so we can start afresh in 2018. In this last show of the year, Dave and Reb talk about looking back over 2017 in relation to our financial journeys, so that we can start the new year with a clean slate.
Looking back at our financial journey isn’t easy, but Dave and Reb want to encourage us that when we look at how we behaved financially, we can take our successes and our failures to God and find His perspective and help.
In this show, Dave and Reb highlight three conversations they have had in 2017 with Ellel Ministries’s Kent Bandy, Compass Canada’s Ray Borg, and Doyle Salewski’s Debbie Doyle. These interview clips touch on the subject of fear and repentance.
“Repentance is such a key part in our lives with God, and in our finances,” Reb says. “At the end of this year, it provides a fresh outlook, and gives us the opportunity to deal with things we haven’t been happy about.”
Dave and Reb want to remind listeners that talking with God about their financial journeys is the first step, but planning a financial course with a clear destination is also important.
“You need to know where you are going,” Dave says. “You don’t get into a car without having a destination, and that applies to finances as well. You need to mark a clear destination for your finances, so if you want to pay off $10,000 of debt in 2018, then set that goal, and determine what kind of changes you will make to get there.”
