The Heart of Giving with John Kerr
In the first century church, followers of The Way discovered the heart of giving in ways many of us do not understand today. On this week’s show, Dave and Reb continue their discussion with retired financial planner John Kerr about what motivates us to give, and what keeps us from giving. Last week, they talked about giving from our assets, and how that can be a new and challenging idea.
Dave and Reb often talk about how we can’t give when we are close-fisted. We can’t receive from God’s hands when our fists are closed, and neither can we give. Looking at the example from Acts 4 and the life of Barnabas, they look at how the the heart of giving is to share what we have with others.
Dave encourages people to look at what we have in our lives to share, and start giving even in small ways.
“We have five assets that we need to think of when we consider giving,” he says. “Those include, time, talent, opportunities, relationships and finances. Giving is more than just giving money.”
“Not everyone can afford to give large sums of money to the Kingdom, but everyone has something to give,” Reb adds.
Tune in to hear their discussion on the heart of giving.
