Spring Cleaning Your Finances

Dave and Reb start a month-long series today aimed at motivating you, to not only spring clean your house, but your finances as well.

They encourage listeneners to “open the window on their finances” and let some fresh habits and fresh thinking infiltrate what has happened over the winter.

Reconnecting with your cash, and understanding where your money goes is an important place to start. As they often say, it is important to FACE your finances.

“Financial Awareness Creates Empowerment. That is the acronym we use to help us remember that the simple act of engaging with your financial story is empowering,” Reb says.

Going back to the simplicity of using cash, instead of credit, is another place to start. Dave says that putting away the credit card reduces spending by 20 per cent in some cases. Putting the card in the freezer, or cutting it up, can seem like drastic measures, but they are simple ways to help you avoid debt trouble.

Starting to clean up credit issues and debt problems will also provide freedom for you in ways you have not imagined.

“It is liberating to start owning your financial story and habits, and to start making change,” Reb says. “Now, in spring, is a great time to start.”
