Another Black Friday Sale!

Today is one of the biggest shopping days of the year for both online and in-store sales. Dave and Reb unpack the history of North America’s Black Friday shopping day and the numbers behind our spending habits on this weekend of sales during today’s show.

They take a look at a Black Friday Survey they conducted with local listeners, but they also talk about how to put Black Friday and Cyber Monday in context of their faith as followers of Jesus.

Reading from Isaiah 55, Dave and Reb talk about what God teaches. Verses 1 to 3 state:

“Come, all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters;
and you who have no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without cost.
Why spend money on what is not bread,
and your labor on what does not satisfy?
Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,
and you will delight in the richest of fare.
Give ear and come to me;
listen, that you may live.

“There may be some good deals out there today,” Dave says. “But there are always good deals to find. We need to come to the water of life – Jesus Christ, Himself, to find what no purchase today could fulfill.”

And of course, Dave adds his very practical advice to a day like today: “Plan what you spend and spend what you plan. Then debt, overspending and regret won’t be issues you have to deal with later.”
