What will it take for you and I to commit to financial literacy and healthy financial habits? What will it take for you and I to commit to true discipleship?
On today’s radio show Rev. Ray Borg talks with Dave and Reb about “setting a stake in the ground” to turn the corner and commit to a new and healthier financial journey. It involves doing what Jesus said and counting the cost, or as Zacchaeus discovered, encountering Christ at such a deep level, we will give up everything we have to follow him.
“When Zacchaeus encountered Christ, his response was to make amends to the people he had hurt,” Reb says. “And it was a financial injustice he was making up for. Not just to repay them, but to repay them four-fold. That is amazing to me.”
It is this passionate response that was a stake in the ground for Zacchaeus. He publicly told Jesus he would restore what he took, and there was no way of going back on his word – he said it to Jesus, Himself, and that shows commitment!
It is this stake in the ground that Dave and Reb encourage listeners to make in their walk with the Lord.
“The stake in the ground idea, holds us accountable, and keeps us from walking away from our commitment,” Dave says. “And in these days we need commitment and accountability, to keep us following the True North in such financially challenging times.”
