Dave and Reb encourage listeners on “Let’s Talk Money” this morning with truth from God’s Word found in Matthew 11, Psalm 121 and Jeremiah 17. In the storm that these pandemic days are creating, they are encouraging people to look to God, and face their financial situations by putting their hands back on the wheel of their financial journeys.
Dave compares the storms of our current circumstances to the storms that captains face on the open seas.
“Some of us may be facing the storm by going to the bottom of the ship and curling up in a ball because we just are struggling so much on various emotional and physical levels,” he says. “But I just want to encourage you to get up to the main deck and get your hands on the wheel of your finances, even if all you do right now is tie yourself to the wheel and stand there and hang on.”
In a practical sense, they want people to understand the income and expenses they have each month, so they can figure out if they have enough money to pay the bills.
“On top of that, if you are able, you keep pointing your ship in the direction of debt repayment,” Reb says. “Even if you are only putting $20 toward your debt, you are still directing your ship in the direction of your goals and purposes.”
