On “Let’s Talk Money” today, Dave and Reb talk with Pastor Mike Hogeboom from Ottawa’s Arlington Woods Free Methodist Church about how they have responded in this time of Covid-19. Two years ago, Arlington Woods church took on damage from the area’s infamous tornado storms. Pastor Mike shares how what they learned as a church in that crisis, prepared them to pivot in this year of 2020.
“That fall of 2018 was devastating to say the least,” Pastor Mike says. “We had damage to our facility that we had to figure out, but we also learned to rise to the need in our community that was around us. It helped us mobilize better as a church.”
He mentioned that out of the 2018 crisis, Respond Ottawa formed, mobilizing churches to meet the needs of the city of Ottawa especially in crisis. In 2020, this network was able to form the Covid 19 Task Force. Go to http://www.respondottawa.ca/ for more information.
“There are so many hard things that people are experiencing, but we also need to see all the positives that come out of times such as these,” Reb says. “Respond Ottawa is such a great example.”
