Asking for Help with Pastor Pam Dyck

Dave and Reb welcome Abbotsford Pastor Pam Dyck back for the second week in a row on “Let’s Talk Money”. On today’s show they talk about the importance of asking for help, and how our pride can keep us from asking.

Pastor Pam says that people feel awkward or embarrassed sharing their need, but it is important to open up.

“We certainly aren’t mind-readers when it comes to knowing what others need,” she says laughing. “And we want to give to you because we care for you, not because we think you are ‘needy’.

James 4 tells us that we don’t have because we don’t ask. Jesus spoke to His disciples, about asking, seeking, and knocking. This is a timely discussion for the Body of Christ as economic uncertainty has hit so many Canadians close to home.

“We need to share what we have,” Reb says. “But we also need to share what needs we have with others so they can be a part of God’s provision for us.”

Reb believes that this is how we are going to walk successfully through some of the economic uncertainty ahead.

“If you need a hammer, an axe or a shovel for a job around the house, just ask to borrow one for the day from someone who may have them,” she says. “There is no shame in asking for help.”
