What are we leaving behind? It seems to be a question many are asking, and Dave and Reb welcome Brent Vandermeer, financial advisor at CrossPoint Financial, to weigh in on the importance of legacy on today’s episode of “Let’s Talk Money with Dave and Reb.” Leaving a legacy does not only involve leaving finances to the generations behind us, but leaving spiritual wealth and wisdom, as well.
“We always need to remember that money is a tool we use to try and do good in the world,” Brent says. “Leaving a legacy is really the story of a life well lived.”
Taking a look at Deuteronomy 6, Dave and Reb talk about how God wanted His people to remember Him, and how He had led them out of Egypt. In this passage, God reminds them that they live in houses full of good things which they did not fill, drink from wells which they didn’t dig, and eat of vineyards and olive trees that they did not plant (see verses 10 to 12).
“This is a poignant reminder to us today, that in the legacies we receive, or in the legacies we want to leave behind for our families, God is the author and owner of them all,” Reb says.
