As we head into the long weekend, Dave and Reb discuss one of their favourite movie characters as an example of a “not-so-faithful” steward on today’s episode of “Let’s Talk Money with Dave and Reb”. Denethor is the ruling steward of Gondor in the movie trilogy The Lord of the Rings. As a steward, he leaves his responsibilities, choosing to believe the lies of his enemy. He stops leading, fighting, and standing for truth. Grief and despair reign in his heart, and he refuses to listen to wise counsel. There are many warnings we can learn from Denethor’s example of stewardship, and Dave and Reb encourage listeners to consider his example, as well as to seriously understand their roles as managers of God’s resources.
“It is so important as managers of God’s resources that we learn what stewardship means and how to carry it out practically,” Reb says. “So often we use that word stewardship without fully grasping what that means in our daily lives.”
