In today’s episode, Dave and Reb consider the cost of commitment on our stress levels and our finances.
Dave and Reb welcome listeners to the kick-off episode for “Let’s Talk Money with Dave and Reb” in 2023. Instead of talking about financial resolutions, they encourage and challenge listeners to consider their commitment levels to not only financial health, but to all those areas of our lives that can become “overcommitments”. At the beginning of this year, Dave and Reb talk about the wisdom in looking into the year ahead and considering what we are committed to, and how these commitments are affecting our finances.
“It is important to consider at the beginning of this new year, how credit plays a part in what we commit to,” Dave says. “Credit allows us to overcommit in the area of our finances and that can lead us into trouble.”
The podcast hosts recommend sitting down and writing out what you want to commit to this year.
- Slow down. Write it down.
- Pray. Wisdom and insight are needed.
- Count the financial cost of those commitments, and
- Make every spending decision, a spiritual one.
“As you consider these decisions, be mindful of peace,” Reb says. “The peace of Christ is a great determining factor, as to whether or not you will run with the choice or not.”
