Train up a child
Mercedes van Noppen, More Than Enough social media director and daughter of Dave and Reb, talks to parents and peers this week on the radio show about creating an understanding financial environment for money conversations in their homes.
As a Generation Z child and university student in Canada’s capital city, Mercedes says that she sees her peers developing a different set of priorities than generations before them. Mercedes believes that the end goal isn’t about getting a house, and a nice savings and retirement fund, but is about living for the experiences and purpose that can be found in the “shrinking” global community.
Dave and Reb talk with Mercedes about the importance of communicating these differences with parents and family, to create understanding and a place for safe financial conversations. When parents do this, Mercedes believes they are fulfilling the verse found in Proverbs 22:6: Train up a child in the way she should go, and when she is old, she won’t depart from it.
