Consumer debt in 2014 reached 164% of annual income, what does this mean? Basically, for every $3.00 the average Canadian earns in one year, they are almost $5.00 in debt (Bankruptcy Canada)! How can this be?

We have unlimited access to education on finances.  We have apps and tools galore.

Could it be that we have forgotten the spiritual keys which allow for a life of freedom?

You must unlock the dreams of your heart and allow them to motivate you to move forward into a life of abundance.

Pray

God has placed our desires within us, they are a part of who we are. It is so important to ask God to reveal our deepest desires and set aside time to seek him out.
1) Set aside two hours of time to discover your dreams. You can do it. The average Canadian spends 2.5 hours every day watching internet videos on their mobile devices (Oliveira, Video and mobile use doubles Canadians’ time spent online, research says)
2) Consider where you feel energized.
3) Write your new mission on paper! And the SHARE it.

Think

Don’t crush your dream before it begins to grow, there may be details to be ironed out but don’t let your own anxiety stand in the way of God’s power. Remember, through God all things are possible!

1) Share:  I will say it again. Share your dreams. Friends, spouses, accountability partners or mentors are great people to share with.

2) Imagine : Allow yourself to imagine the possibilities of how your dreams can become an active and driving force in your life.

3) Be realistic but don’t be afraid:  You can trust God to fulfill the things He promises.

4) Focus – keep your eye on the mission no matter what the circumstances look like

Act

Finally, act upon your dream! Through an inspired dream you can become more intentional about making financial decisions which honour God and others. It is easy to walk away from frivolous spending when you have a dream to drive you.
1) Your dream is important. No matter how ‘big’ or ‘small.’
2) Make financial decisions which will empower you to fulfill your dream.
3) Practice FACE- Financial Awareness Creates Empowerment. Be intentional about knowing where your money is going and where you want it to go.
So where do you need to start? Do you have a dream? Have you communicated that dream to others? The Dream Giver by Bruce Wilkinson is a great book if you are looking for your dream! Most of all you need to be alone with the Lord. Don’t act until you have discovered your dream because then you will have a reason pursue financial freedom.
