Building Trust with your Financial Advisor

Financial advisor Brent Vandermeer from Vandermeer Wealth Management and HollisWealth joins Dave and Reb on today’s show to talk investing, and the importance of finding an advisor you can trust. Together they look at God’s teaching from Deuteronomy 8 and Matthew 7 about the importance of building a strong foundation in life and finances.

“Finding a financial advisor is part of being a responsible steward,” Dave says. “But it is not easy – finding someone you can connect with and trust.”

Brent suggests interviewing four or five advisors to gain understanding about the industry, the firm and the advisors. He says it is an important decision because advisors are holding not only your wealth, but also your hopes and dreams, in their hands.

Brent suggests asking questions, taking notes, and going home and considering your best options.

Some questions you can take to the interview include:
What products and services do you offer?
What is your investment policy?
Is your firm qualified and registered?
How are you compensated as an advisor?
How will you help me reach my goals?
