Back to School Talking and Planning Together

It’s hard to believe but there are only six more Fridays before school begins. With August upon us, conversations around school and activities are important in our planning. Today, Dave and Reb talk about having family conversations that bring to light expectations and costs around activities, clothing, and so much more that back-to-school brings.

This time of year can be really expensive for families, especially when school-aged children need clothes, backpacks and want to participate in extra-curricular events.

“How we talk to each other about our expectations at this time of year is so important,” Reb says. “We need to remember to be kind to one another.”

Talking to our children honestly about what we can afford is also important.

“We don’t need to say that we don’t have the money for ‘this or that’,” Dave says. “But we can tell them our money goes to pay all kinds of living expenses, and making a plan for what is important to our family is a part of the back-to-school process.”

Tune in to listen to their conversation and learn how you can start the conversation at home. To read the Scriptures covered in today’s show go to James 1:19, Colossians 4:6, and Proverbs 18:13.
