Getting Ready for Christmas

It may be a bit late, but Dave and Reb want listeners to prepare for Christmas spending, if not for this year, then for 2019. On today’s show, they talk about being financially prepared for Christmas.

Christmas is not a part of “emergency spending” but should be a part of planned, intentional saving and giving.

“Christmas can be a time of year that sneaks up on us for some reason, even though we have been celebrating the season most of our lives,” Dave says. “Then we treat it like emergency spending and we dip into our cushion to pay for gifts.”

Dave and Reb encourage listeners to understand that the heart of God is to give, but it is not His heart that we become indebted to others, to do so.

Making a spending plan specifically for Christmas is one of their suggestions, with names, estimated costs and gift ideas. Adjusting the plan according to those targets will be necessary, especially when you are tempted to overspend.

“Plan what you spend and spend what you plan,” Dave says. “And you will find you come through Christmas without going in debt.

Listen to the show to hear their ideas about how “it is in our DNA to give.”
