Money at Home with Hope and Justus van Noppen
“Let’s Talk Money” welcomes very special guests to the show today, as Dave and Reb talk with their children Hope and Justus van Noppen about what they learned about money growing up in the van Noppen home. Hope and Justus share what they were ‘taught’ and what they ‘caught’ about the purpose of money, how to use money, and how spending money you don’t have can lead to all kinds of trouble.
Hope says one of the biggest things they learned was that you don’t spend money you don’t have.
“Dad’s favourite phrase is ‘plan what you spend and spend what you plan’,” she says.
Justus adds that Dave and Reb also taught them to talk about money, reminding listeners that they talk about money “a lot” at home.
“It’s what they do for a living, but it is important to talk about money and communicate,” he says. “But they also teach us not to be shaming or judgemental when we do.”
