The Road to Emmaus

In an unlikely Biblical story, Dave and Reb find a source of financial encouragement on today’s show. Through their discussion they discover that as Jesus walks the road with us, as we spend time in His Presence, and as we focus on who He is and what He has done, we gain more and more clarity on what matters to God, and how we can live out those priorities in our finances.

“On our Emmaus Road we awaken to God in our lives and our finances,” Reb says. “Just as the disciples awoke to the truth of Christ, we see how He wants to reveal Himself on our financial journey.”

As that revelation takes place when we spend time with God, we also become aware of some simple practical tools that can help us walk out of our debt.

FACE your finances.

Coaches at More Than Enough use this acronym often.

Financial Awareness Creates Empowerment. We need to know our financial status and be willing to face it before we can start the climb out of debt.

Commit to stop using plastic.

If you are going to get out of debt, you need to commit to stop using credit. We realize it is not always easy, but until you learn how to use credit wisely and pay it off completely on a regular basis, you should not use it.

Commit to paying down debt.

As you stop using credit, you also agree on a set amount of money to go towards your debt repayment weekly, bi-weekly or monthly. Put this on automated payments so it is done consistently. Automated payments help you keep your commitment!
