At the end of 2019, CIBC and Manulife Financial surveyed Canadians on their views on debt. On today’s show, Dave and Reb look at some of the numbers and findings from these surveys, and why they want 2020 to be known as the Decade of Debt Freedom. They also look at some of the scripture verses that God speaks to us about debt.

Romans 13:8 says, “Let no debt remain outstanding except the continuing debt to love one another.”

Proverbs 22:7 says, “The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is the slave of the lender.”

Psalm 37:21 says, “The wicked borrows and does not repay, but the righteous shows mercy and gives.”

“These verses can create tension in our lives, but it is a tension we have to face and take to the Lord in prayer,” Reb says. “We want to be known in our nation as a people who are generous, loving and giving, not weighted down by the burden of debt.”

To hear more of their conversation, and to hear some practical steps you can take to walk a debt-free lifestyle, listen in! Today’s show was sponsored by More Than Enough Financial, a financial coaching company helping people walk in the hope and freedom of debt-free living.
